Q) How long will it take for you to make my made to order item?
A) I always advise it could take up to six weeks depending on my workload. Sometimes I get pieces completed and shipped within a week or two. Other times, like if I have a lot of orders to complete, I will need the full six weeks.
Q) What's the difference between ready to ship and made to order?
A) Ready to ship items
These are pieces that I have ready made and waiting to find their new homes. Once a ready to ship item has been ordered it will be dispatched from Betty & The Lovecats within 1-4 days. Any items without ‘made to order’ in the title are ready to ship.
Made to order items
These are items that I don't make until an order has been placed. This means there's a 2 to 6 weeks turnaround on your order. I will usually have your piece finished and shipped well within the 6 weeks deadline. However, depending on my workload at the time, I may need the full six weeks to make and fulfil your order.
Q) I'm ordering from America, how do the tariffs work?
A) Most of Betty & The Lovecats pieces are exempt from the recent changes affecting import tariffs to the USA. This is because they are Original Artworks.
Items affected by tariffs include stickers, greeting cards, jewellery boxes and wooden trays. Everything else is exempt and you will not paid any tariffs on those items.
If your order contains items affected by the tariffs, you will pay the 10% tariff in the cost of your order. I have set up my shop to include the 10% charge on these items to US customers only.
I use Duty Paid shipping, meaning I will pay the tariff on your behalf before it is sent from the UK to the USA. So you won't need to worry about any additional fees when you receive your order. You will receive an email with this information if you are a customer based in America once you have placed an order.
Q) Is your work ceramic?
A) No, it's Jesmonite! I'm not in a position to buy a kiln, no matter how much I'd like to. So, I found an alternative in Jesmonite.
Q) Where do you buy your blank pennants?
A) I don't! I make them all myself in my home studio from vegan leather that I buy by the metre, I saw and paint the dowel to hang them from, drill small holes for the eye hooks and screw those in and I sew the fringe on too. The pennants are 100% handmade.
